Gooseneck Barnacle
  • stalk of the barnacle (part that attaches it to rock) is up to 6 inches long and edible when cooked.
  • avoid cutting/damaging stalk while gathering
  • best when eaten shortly after gathering
  • after cooking, strip off and discard leathery outer skin of stalks.
  • found in clusters at mid to low tide, attached to rocks in areas of strong surf.
