  • edges become wavy/split in maturity
  • underside is smokey grey, sometimes with a lilac tint.
  • grows on the ground grouped together under conifer/hardwood stands.
  • appears in the early summer and fall.
  • has a mild/pleasant taste and odor; cook before eating.
