Manzanita Bolete

  • cap is fibrous, sticky when moist
  • pores under cap are white to olive
  • stem is dotted with dark scabers
  • grows with manzanita, madrone

Look-alikes in California

The edible but less common Leccinum insigne has a similar appearance. It differs most obviously in that it grows in association with aspens and fruits in the summer or fall.
